Introduction
A full-time MBA asks for two years and a salary. That is a hard ask when you are 31, running a team and paying a home loan.
Blended programs are tailored for the individual. You join for classes on weekends and evenings and then going to campus for weeks at a time. The degree carries the IIM brand and your paycheck keeps rolling in.
However, the programs are not clones of one another. Entrance exams vary from one program to the other, fees range by almost ₹8 lakh, and your days of absence from work vary widely. This guide highlights the differences so that you can shortlist programs with justification.

What Is a Blended MBA?
Consider the blended MBA as something that operates similarly to a relay race. The online classes serve as the long distances in the race, while the campus weeks are the part of the race where actual meetings may take place.
How Does a Blended MBA Work?
When you enroll in IIM Nagpur, the Year 1 classes will take place live on every Wednesday night, Saturday night and Sunday. IIM Ahmedabad offers live classes on Thursday to Saturday evenings and Sundays. Therefore, if you decide to skip any of the classes in the middle, your degree course may be significantly compromised.
Blended MBA vs Online MBA vs Full-Time MBA
| Feature | Blended MBA | Online MBA | Full-Time MBA |
|---|---|---|---|
| Delivery | Live online plus campus modules | Mostly online | Fully on campus |
| Work during study | Yes | Yes | No |
| Campus presence | Short, mandatory visits | Minimal or none | Daily for two years |
| Typical experience required | 3+ years | Varies | Often open to freshers |
| Placement cell | Limited or none | Usually none | Yes |
| Best for | Mid-career managers | Self-paced learners | Career switchers |
Who Should Consider a Blended MBA?
This program is suitable for people with 5-15 years of experience who would like to move from specialists to managers and who can dedicate two years of evenings and weekends to study. Those who run their own enterprises or work in family business or live in rural areas are also good candidates.
It does not suit you if you want a campus job offer, need a scholarship, or cannot take leave for campus weeks.

IIM Nagpur Blended MBA for Working Professionals
Programme Overview and Learning Format
The first year of the program consists of core management classes that give approximately 480 hours of training. The second year consists of elective classes, which give about 300 hours of training, and a 60-hour faculty supervised project. The classes in the second year will take place in the evenings during the week and on Sundays.
Eligibility and Admission
As far as public sources go, a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50 percent and 3 years of work experience are required. A valid IIMNAT score has to be submitted as well as passing the personal interview. The partner pages do not specify that a CAT or GMAT score is necessary, but it is better to check the official admission page to confirm this.
Fees and Campus Immersion
Partner listings mention an amount of ₹12.10 lakh paid in instalments. There are 4 mandatory home and outstation modules as a result of which there will be several travelling and leaves taken. A partner will utilize about 20 days of leave during the two years of the programme. Before you talk to your manager, inquire about the dates of the various modules from the Programme office.
Benefits and Things to Weigh
The fee is claimed to be among the cheapest here, the first-year classes do not need to be attended on weekdays, and IIMNAT preparation is possible without putting in as much effort as CAT preparation would need. On the downside, the 4 trips may be costly, and a lot of leaves would be required. The salaries indicated on partner websites are based on their market material rather than actual facts from the institute, and hence disregard them.
IIM Nagpur suits cost-conscious professionals without a recent CAT score who can travel four times.
IIM Mumbai Blended MBA (MBA-BPGP)
Programme Overview and Curriculum
According to IIM Mumbai, it names its programme as Blended Post Graduate Programme in Management or MBA-BPGP. The programme was initiated along with its partner Jaro Education. The write-up about the event describes a programme lasting 2 years consisting of live online classes conducted by faculty of IIM Mumbai and containing more than 1200 hours of interactive learning.
Eligibility, Exams and Admission
You must have a minimum of 50% in your graduation (minimum criteria of 45% is applicable to the SC, ST, and PwD candidates) and three years of work experience till 31 October 2026. Admission is based on a valid CAT, GMAT, or GRE score achieved in the last five years, or the IIM Mumbai Admission Test (IMAT).
For Batch 3, applications are open till 8 November 2026, while IMAT is scheduled for 22 November. Interviews will be held in the fourth week of November, and classes will begin in January 2027. There is a registration fee of ₹2,500 and it is non-refundable. Dates might vary from batch to batch, so make sure to check the live page.
Fees and Campus Immersion
The fees depend on the type of payment plan, ₹15 lakh for the yearly plan and ₹16 for module-wise payments. There is ₹1 lakh for the admissions deposit. There are two campus immersions of one week each which are to be held during the course and students have to arrange for their own food and stay.
Benefits and Things to Weigh
Two campus weeks is the lightest travel load in this set. The institute’s FAQ also says attendance is compulsory in all courses, financial aid is not available, and job placement assistance is not provided. Plan the full fee from savings or a loan.
IIM Mumbai fits professionals who want minimal travel and already hold a valid CAT, GMAT or GRE score.
Other IIMs Offering Blended or Comparable Programmes
IIM Lucknow
The bMBA consists of a two-year, six-term degree that includes a mix of online live classes and campus modules. The first group of students enrolled in the programme in September 2025. Students spend a total of 13 days on campus during Year 1 and 15 days during Year 2. Exams for Terms II, IV, and VI are held in person. The tuition fee includes the reading materials and meals during immersion. However, accommodation is billed separately.
An aggregator lists the total at about ₹14.15 lakh, calculated from the institute’s schedule. Verify the 2026 fee and eligibility on the official bMBA page before relying on it.
IIM Ahmedabad
The Blended PGP course costs ₹20 lakhs, to be paid as a ₹50,000 fee, followed by six instalments. There are 900 hours of contact time spread across six terms with one week of classes on campus. The batch size for the 2026-28 cohort is 138 students with an average age of 32 and an average experience of 8 to 9 years. Travel and stay expenses are not included in the fee. There are no scholarships or placement support, as mentioned in the FAQ section of the institute's website.
IIM Visakhapatnam
This one is an Executive MBA by name, though it runs in blended mode. At ₹11.9 lakh it has the lowest sticker price here. Admission uses the EMAT or a CAT, GRE or GMAT score, and only officer or executive level experience counts. It is open to Indian nationals residing in India. Lecture recordings stay available for just 15 days, so missing a live class is costly. The winter intake closed on 17 August 2026.
IIM Kozhikode and IIM Jammu
No official source I could access confirmed current details for either. Third-party pages mention a roughly 14-month executive format at IIM Jammu with a five-day campus stay, but fees and eligibility were not verifiable. A 14-month executive programme is also a different product from a two-year MBA degree, so do not compare the two on price alone. Check both institutes directly.
What the Brochures Rarely Say
Three points sit in FAQs and footnotes, and they change the maths.
Placement. According to IIM Mumbai and Ahmedabad, no assistance is offered for placement in the courses being discussed. What the institution has to offer is only the credentials which have some value in any organization for you.
Actual cost: The retail price is just an initial factor here. Formula is simple: fee + (course timings × course fee) + avoidance of unpaid leave. It should be given that the cost should be calculated at the level of ₹40,000 for flights and accommodation, but you can input your own numbers to make it more accurate.
| Programme | Fee | Trips | Estimated trip cost | Illustrative total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nagpur | ₹12.1 lakh | 4 | ₹1.6 lakh | ₹13.7 lakh |
| Mumbai | ₹15 lakh | 2 | ₹0.8 lakh | ₹15.8 lakh |
| Ahmedabad | ₹20 lakh | 6 | ₹2.4 lakh | ₹22.4 lakh |
Notice that the gap between Nagpur and Mumbai shrinks once you count travel.
Attendance. Mumbai insists on the necessity of attending classes. Ahmedabad emphasizes the need to take some courses at the university campus. Visakhapatnam deletes audio recordings after a period of two weeks. If your job is such that you can’t predict your working hours, it is extremely important.
Which Should You Choose?
If You Have No Recent CAT Score
IIM Nagpur (IIMNAT), IIM Mumbai (IMAT), IIM Ahmedabad (IAT) and IIM Visakhapatnam (EMAT) each run their own test. Each has its own syllabus and date, so leave preparation time for it.
Comparing Fees and Affordability
By sticker price, lowest to highest: Visakhapatnam, Nagpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Ahmedabad. After travel, the order can tighten. Ask whether you will lose pay during campus weeks.
Comparing Campus Time and Flexibility
Mumbai has the least tight program—two weeks course duration. Lucknow has approximately four weeks of the course duration. Nagpur has only four modules. Ahmedabad also has six modules in total and six weeks of absence from work.
Matching a Programme to Your Career Goals
These help you if you want to advance with your existing employer. On the contrary, if you wish to join a different employer soon, keep in mind that none of the programs guarantee any placement cell. You will be dependent solely on your own connections.
| Your situation | Shortlist first |
|---|---|
| Tight budget | Visakhapatnam, Nagpur |
| Least campus travel | Mumbai |
| Already hold CAT, GMAT or GRE | Mumbai, Ahmedabad |
| Prefer a larger cohort with long-running brand recall | Ahmedabad, Lucknow |
| Living outside India | Check each; Visakhapatnam is open to Indian nationals residing in India only |
